Information Acquisition and Analysis
The management of Canada’s natural resources requires the acquisition and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data. Developing comprehensive measurement and sampling skills provides professional foresters with an ability to collect information and understand sources of uncertainty that affect data reliability.
Availability
- All online modules will run 3 times a year, coinciding with the Fall, Spring and Summer terms, as per the University of Toronto academic calendar. Each module will begin approximately 3 weeks following the commencement of the academic term, and will last 8 weeks. Exact course start dates will be specified upon registration.
- Field courses modules will be offered in the Spring and Fall terms, and potentially the Summer term, pending enrolment numbers. Spring sessions will take place during the first 2 weeks of May, fall sessions the last 2 weeks of October, and mid-summer sessions the first 2 weeks of July.

- Orienteering, field navigation.
- GIS, photogrammetry, remote sensing.
- Construction and use of the Ontario Forest Resource Inventory database and related spatial information/analytical tools.

Demonstrate an ability to apply basic orienteering and surveying techniques
