Module 5.3

Demonstrate leadership skills through collaborative decision-making, consultation, and conflict resolution

Module 5.3 will enhance students’ leadership skills through learning activities that focus on leadership skills, consultation and collaborative decision-making surrounding forest resource management issues. Key topics include organization and facilitation of decision-making processes, conflict resolution and negotiation skills to arrive at defensible positions when action is required.


Module Objectives

  • Describe how social, cultural, and geographical differences apply to this topic;
  • Facilitate collaborative decision-making; Apply conflict resolution skills;
  • Organize a group to achieve a goal; and
  • Defend a resulting plan of action.

Module Schedule

This course involves a combination of recorded lectures, readings, assignments and participation in semi-synchronous online discussion forums and synchronous tutorials with instructors and other participants over an 8-week period
