Module 6.3
Design and implement sampling strategies
Participants will be introduced to the design and implementation of sampling strategies. The course consists of online lectures and a short answers quiz. The participant must achieve a grade of at least 70% on the quiz to pass the module.
Module Objectives
- Describe the following with respect to statistical methods: bias, accuracy and precision; calculating probabilities – independent events, mutually exclusive; population vs. sample; parameter vs. variable; frequency distribution – Normal, Binomial, Poisson; statistical computations – mean, median, mode, range, variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, standard error of the mean, confidence limit.
- Describe inventory techniques, including point sample and plot sampling.
